Our society is based upon lies and fraud. Somewhere along the line, it became socially acceptable to lie. There is no outrage and there are no consequences when politicians, government officials, or corporate CEOs are caught lying. It is normal behavior. In fact, the pendulum has swung so far that I contend that honest people are at a severe disadvantage.
Obama is now using signing statements in the same manner as Bush did. Watch the video. BTW, I voted for Obama so please do not misinterpret this post as a partisan political rant. The two party system is a failure for the people. We lose either way.
What does this have to do with the economy? Without trust, the political system, the banking system, the economy, and our society will continue to deteriorate.
Can we fix it? I doubt it.
When you see that trading is done, not by consent, but by compulsion — when you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing — when you see money flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors — when you see that men get richer by graft and pull than by work, and your laws don’t protect you against them, but protect them against you — when you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice — you may know that your society is doomed.

I agree. This is just more of the same continuation of the concentration of power.
sounds like you're part of the problem if you voted for obama
"sounds like you're part of the problem if you voted for obama"
Interesting.
Sounds like you're 'part of the problem' if you voted for anyone but Ron Paul in the primaries... he was the only one who was truly qualified.
Its nice that some people are finally starting to follow common sense in realizing Ron Paul as being the only viable person to solve the mess in our country. Remember months ago when you were telling all us Ron Paul supporters that we were unrealistic?
